We've all been cockblocked at some point in our lives. It's just one of those certainties in life, like death and taxes. We've all got to get used to it and learn how to deal with it. You know who I'm talking about; they’re the person who steps in and destroys any opportunity you might have had in picking up a chick. It could be blatant or subtle, but either way, we've got to learn how to get around it.
Cockblockers come in all different shapes and sizes. They could be a cell phone, another guy, another girl, her ugly friend, or even your best friend, who might step in and accidentally cockblock you. Have you ever been talking to a girl and her girlfriend suddenly asked you, "What are you a pickup artist or something?" When you suggest to someone, "Let's get out of here and go to this other party" and she responds, "I'd love to," but her friend "wants to stay" or is "too tired." If you've heard anything along these lines, then you‘ve been cockblocked.
Why do they do it?
Most women don't go out alone, so there are usually people hanging around and acting as cockblockers. If there are other guys around, they're probably blocking you because either they're trying to score themselves, or they resent the fact that you trespassed into their space (even if they aren't pursuing the girl). Other girls will block you for all kinds of reasons. Some do it because they're asked to look after their friend. Others do it out of jealousy. They aren't getting the attention that they think they should, or they're pissed that the hot friend always gets all the attention. Any other reasons? Who knows, but it happens...all the time.
In this article, we'll look at a situation in which two people are involved: the target woman and the cockblocker.
Disarming her Ugly Girlfriend
At parties and clubs, you'll see a lot of twosomes: your target girl and her girlfriend (who isn't necessarily ugly, just not quite as hot as her friend). This is usually the most difficult situation because your target won't want to leave her friend, or appear to be ignoring her by talking to a guy. She also won't want to put her friend in a situation where she's just standing there and not having fun. A larger group scenario (three or more) doesn't pose these types of problems because if one member of the group is occupied, the rest of the group remains intact.
So how do we approach this situation and disarm the cockblocker? One way is to initially make a connection with the cockblocker and recruit her so that she's on your side. Now, not only will she not cockblock you, she'll help you in picking up her friend. How do we do this? The technique is best illustrated in script format. The cast is made up of three characters: the guy (you!), the hot chick, and the ugly cockblocking chick.
Setting: Club, party, bookstore, etc.
A guy approaches two women standing by a window.
Guy: (talking to the ugly cockblocker chick) Hi! Janet? (Obviously, you have no clue what her name is)
Cockblocker: Ummmmmm, no.
Guy: I'm sorry, you just look so much like Janet, my buddy Barry's ex.
Cockblocker: Really?
Guy: Yeah, it's too bad he's not here right now. He'd totally be all over you. He's one of those guys who always seems to date the same type of people, you know?
Cockblocker: Yeah, sure! (probably giggling at this point)
Guy: Barry's one of those guys. He's a real good-looking guy and always has all these chicks after him, but the girls he dates always have the same look.
Cockblocker: (probably smiling and giggling again)
Guy: So...what kind of guys do you go for?
Cockblocker: Smart, funny, tall, brown hair (who the fuck cares?)
Guy: (looking surprised) That’s weird, sounds a lot like Barry! Except for the smart part! (laughing) I should definitely introduce the two of you. Why don’t you give me your number?
Cockblocker: (gives you her phone number. You win…she’s not a cockblocker anymore.)
Guy: (turns attention to the hot chick)
At this point, the cockblocker is fully disarmed and you can start working the hot chick without any interference. In fact, not only will she not interfere, she's now on your team and she'll help you pick up her friend. This includes laughing her ass off at your lame jokes and trying to convince her friend how cute you are.
Why does this work?
Presumably, the cockblocker doesn't get approached too often, especially when she's next to her hot friend. On the other hand, her friend has a constant stream of guys trying to get in her pants. By coming in with the Barry story, you've now set yourself up as the non-threatening nice guy. Your only interest is helping your stud friend Barry hook up with the girl of his dreams, who just happens to be your cockblocker. Presto, the cockblock is now disarmed and working for you!
But why would the former cockblocker help you hook up with her friend? There are many reasons. She obviously hasn't met Barry yet; you are the key to that. The cockblocker can't risk pissing you off. If she helps you score, those might be some bonus points. She's already having fantasies envisioning the four of you on a double date.
There are benefits when it comes to the target girl as well. She'll feel like she has to spend more time with you because she wants to help her friend find her dream guy. She can't risk pissing you off either. Also, monkey see, monkey do. Once you've seen someone do something, it's a lot easier to do it yourself. Since she's already seen her ugly friend give you her phone number, getting her phone number will be a piece of cake.
But Barry doesn't exist! Well, they don't know that. Just tell ’em the truth, Barry was really looking forward to meeting her, but he and his ex-girlfriend just got back together and he doesn't want to mess it up this time. You don't know how long it's going to last.
